Hahei’s botanicals are wild foraged and locally sourced, then steeped three times to create a clean, nuanced dry gin. Mānuka leaf from Stingray Bay and Cathedral Cove seaweed meet kawakawa spice, aromatic makrut and kumquat to create the fragrant layers and pinkish hue of one of the most spectacular beaches on earth.
On a holiday with family and friends Mark and Zoë were amazed at the abundance of hibiscus and citrus growing freely in the area. Hahei is where the concept of creating place-specific gin really took hold.

ELSEWHERE is a two-person team dedicated to crafting very small batches of premium gin. Mark, who is also an experienced winemaker, distills the gin and Zoë looks after design, accounts and marketing. They usually forage for botanicals together – often while on holiday enjoying the natural environment with their family and friends – so they have a personal connection to the places on each label. This makes their gin totally unique and unlike anything else.
In capturing the taste and aroma of unique places, ELSEWHERE gin follows the winemaking concept of terroir. While they go back to their favourite places to gather botanicals to make further batches, they will express the character of different seasons and years, much like vintage wine. They will also make gins from new places they discover that really inspire them.
