Description
Expertly crafted, this award-winning gin is made using a carefully selected blend of botanicals that give it a truly unique flavour profile. At the forefront of its flavour is a strong juniper note, beautifully balanced with the spicy and aromatic flavours of cardamom and cinnamon, and depth added by lime peel and green peppercorns. This creates an unforgettable and distinct gin that is perfect for both sipping neat or mixed into your favourite cocktail, making it a versatile spirit that's perfect for any drinking occasion.
Distilling
5 Mile Gin is small batch distilled in 50L stills. They use a combination of maceration and vapour infusion to get the best out of each botanical. After distillation it is reduced down to their bottling strength of 43% ABV with Tongariro Water from National Park next to Mt Ruapehu, which is allowed to marry before bottling.
About
The journey for Taupō Distilling Co. began when their founder Scott Forsythe stumbled upon a YouTube video on distilling during the first NZ lockdown (April 2020), which ignited his imagination and inspired him. Scott purchased his first still and began experimenting with innovative techniques and natural ingredients to create exceptional spirits. He was dedicated to using only the finest ingredients and crafting unique flavor profiles that would be unforgettable. After many hours of experimentation and tasting, Scott perfected his gin recipe.
Named after the stunning 5 Mile Bay, Taupō, Aotearoa New Zealand, where many a long summer afternoon has been spent on the beach with friends and family drinking Gin and Tonics.
