About
Rakiura Distilling Company was founded by three blokes who call Stewart Island home, later joined by a girl who can’t get enough of the place (and could see that the blokes needed some wrangling!).
They chose to do things the way they do down here - authentic, no bullshit, not always the easy road - but always the worthwhile one. Distilling and bottling on the Island were recommended against - the logistics of making great spirits in such an isolated place are complicated at best. But this is where the magic happens, and they want our customers to feel that in every glass.
Rakiura Distilling Company produce premium, boutique spirits from New Zealand’s southernmost distillery that celebrate Stewart Island – our rich culture, colourful histories and pristine environment – in every sip. They cannot put into words how much they love their stormy and isolated island at the bottom of the world - so they will bottle it and share it with you.
