Bottled at 57.1% for a pinch more punch, Pickering's Navy Strength Gin is a staple of their core range. The higher alcoholic strength brings out the sweeter botanicals in their Bombay recipe, like cardamom, anise and fennel. Affectionately known as the bearskin gin, Pickering's released this expression to celebrate becoming the official gin of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Smooth, clean and powerful. Initial juniper and aromatic spice flavours lead to a delicious sweetness.
Matt and Marcus had been friends and business partners for years when, while working at Summerhall, they spotted the derelict dogs kennels from the small animal hospital that once stood in the middle of the old Royal (Dick) Veterinary School. What to do with it? As fate would have it, Marcus had recently inherited a gin recipe from a friend of his late father. Add to that their mutual penchant for a good gin, and the next step seemed obvious. They rolled up their sleeves and built a distillery. They tried, tested and experimented until they were experts. And so began the story of the Botanical Engineers.
