Description
Like the sun rising over the mountain peaks, the piercing clarity of lemongrass and lime zest awakens the sides of the tongue. Meanwhile the weight of the alcohol adds unctuousness to the palate, gently carrying the herbaceous and grassy botanicals through the mouth. The citrus slowly evaporates the body of the drink from the sides to the centre of the tongue, leaving an ethereal hint of liquorice root and star anise spices. There is no harshness and no competition between flavours or aromas, just a gentle evolution of complexity as these nuances interact subtly, harmoniously and naturally.
Distilling
Black Robin Gin is handcrafted and batch-distilled in our Arnold-Holstein copper reflux pot still by our Master Distiller Michael Deinlein, who's family have been crafting alcoholic beverages since the 1930's. Using triple distilled whey as their base, they go on to distill Black Robin Gin a further two times with 11 traditional and exotic botanicals. They then blend with pristine filtered spring water sourced from a sprung underneath their distillery in the hills above Tauranga.
About
Simply Pure was launched in 2013 born of the desire to create quintessential New Zealand super premium spirits for the global markets. Their goal has always been to be the best they can be; more a mindset than a goal post. This way they strive to better themselves, our community, and our environment. They handcraft their products to reflect these ideals; no artificial flavours, no artificial essences, no artificial aromas – only the aromas and flavours of the finest natural ingredients they can find. By naming products after native NZ birds that are critically endangered they not only hope to raise awareness of their plight, but also to raise funds to help their survival. With every bottle sold they make a donation to The Royal Forest and Bird Society of New Zealand to help them protect NZ's native species and wild places.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to restrictions at their French bottle manufacturers due to Covid-19, they have had to temporarily simplify the Black Robin Gin bottle design.
